New Washing Machine
This past year I was able to work with Martin Castro on producing a short film called New Washing Machine. We first approached the script for this project almost 3 years ago and rushed into producing the project. Upon editing and finishing the film the first time, I made the call to pull the plug on it - the film just didn't do the script justice. I had shot the film myself, and worked in a highly uncollaborative way to essentially force the film into existence on a short timeline in order to get credit for it on a course. Martin was disappointed we weren't going to release it, but I promised him we'd try another, proper, go at it soon. Fast forward to this past year when this piece finally came together. For our second go at it, we worked with a team of local collaborators that each brought their own touches to the project which made the film into what it finally is today. This film in its second iteration is by far the work I am most proud of to date and has much to do with how much it represents my own growth as an artist. By building relationships with collaborators I was able to articulate my vision to others which allowed them in turn to understand the goal we were working towards, allowing them to lend their own creative touches and skills to the project that brought it far beyond my own capabilities.
